Pushcart has oh, so many plays…just right for your young audience – Plays that dance to a fiddler's tune and help young minds grow!

  • Pushcart Players brings a little bit of Broadway to your school or theatre, rich in content, wrapped in colorful entertainment.
  •  All programs are accompanied by a terrific study guide for teachers and fulfill many core curriculum standards in the arts and other subjects. 
  •  Professional Development Workshops, Arts in Education Workshops and Residencies can be arranged to enhance any curriculum 
  • The cast is available for a question/answer session or a “Meet and Greet” with the audience following all performances. 
  • Pushcart programs are ADA accessible. Sign interpretation, audio-description and large print materials are available upon request.

"Dear America"   (K-8)

   A musical play that explores the immigrant experience, ethnic diversity, human rights and democratic values – Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, Dear America offers a stunning overview of America in a series of short stories that celebrate the richness of cultural diversity and the triumph of the human spirit.

"A Season of Miracles" (K-8)

    A winter celebration wrapped in a multi-cultural musical show that reveals the true spirit of the holidays from diverse perspectives.  Four favorite stories -- “Gift of The Magi,” “The Kwanzaa Kite,” “A Menorah from Heaven,” and “The Nutcracker” – unfold with charm, grace and beauty,  -- each reminding us that the gifts of love, kindness and peace are at the heart of the holiday season.

“Happily Ever After – A Cinderella Tale(K-6)

 

 

Based on the beloved classic tale of Cinderella, -- “Happily Ever After” takes us on a timeless "once upon a time" journey of transformation, fueled by inner beauty, courage and kindness as it triumphs over greed, arrogance and bully behavior. Filled with many learning opportunities this enduring story and beautiful musical is the essence of arts in education!

"The Last...Butterfly" (4-12)

     Pushcart’s beautifully crafted Holocaust Education piece introduces this sad chapter of history with sensitivity and care.  An ideal introduction to -- or culmination of -- Holocaust study, prejudice reduction and bully behavior discussion/units.

“Red Riding Hood & Other Stories”  (Pre K - 5)

 

     Take a fabulous journey into once upon a time with this collection of timeless tales.  “Princess and the Pea,” Emperor’s New Clothes,” “Red Riding Hood,” and “All’s Well That Ends Well” will leave young audiences laughing, singing and thinking long after the final curtain.

JUNIOR BROADWAY (On-School Time or After)

Fiddler, Jr.  - YM-YWHA, Wayne, NJ 2007

 

     Kids learn all about theatre by doing it! Condensed versions of familiar Broadway favorites are cast, rehearsed, designed, and presented with the help of parents, teachers and Pushcart staff.  Dazzling performances at the end of 12 to 16 weeks.  A marvelous school-wide and community arts in education activity!

     Theatre games, storytelling and improvisation help students develop self-awareness and confidence in dramatic play and self-expression.
